The orientation program is an opportunity for any student to learn, how to navigate this campus, to build a network of resources that will help students and their parents to start their KDC journey in a better manner on the right path. The major objective of the program was to make the parents and students aware of the academic aspects of the course, the rules and regulations of the Institute and ensuring parental participation in monitoring the performance and progress of the students.
The orientation program began on 3rd July 2019 at 9am with the welcome of the students, their parents, dignitaries, faculty members by Ms.Roopini J, Assistant Professor, BCA dept. Followed by invocation song by Mr.Ravishankar, Assistant Professor, BBA dept. Followed next, was lamp lighting ceremony by dignitaries along with one of the students and a parent.
Next, Mrs.Asha, HR Head addressed the gathering and took care of admission related queries.
Followed by, a brief description of the college was delivered by Dean Prof Shyjan PM which included the motto, history and reputation of the college along with the recent achievements. He also briefed about the courses, academic assessments and other facilities given by college.
Later students were sent to their respective classes to fill the declaration form and online admission application form.
After lunch break, students were given a brief instruction about the new millennial courses by Imarticus and B.com professional course by Proedge skill development and edutech private limited.
The second day of the orientation program , 4th July 2019 started with skill filled session by Trainer and Motivational speaker Mr.Deepak Justin and his wife RJ Maya and students were taught the interesting ways to improve their speaking skills, how to improve body language and qualities and requisites of a good leader. The students were invited to take part in activities such as role-plays. They were also given a chance to introduce themselves. At the end of the day, the winners of the activities won goodies from the host. The program was wound up by 4pm.
The third day of the orientation program, on July 5th 2019 took over by RJ Maya and Mr.Deepak Justin from 9am. The activities like dumb charades, blindfolding (Mystery object) were conducted. Students were asked to enact different emotions and illustrate certain things. At the end of the day, there was a recall session to recollect all the points of the discussion. The program ended by announcing the winners of the activities at around 4pm.
The fourth day session, on 6th July 2019, was an interactive session conducted by Mr.Ajith Kaikini. The program started around 9am. They had a discussion on several talks such as “How Knowledge Alone Cannot Be Power?” and he also emphasized on the relevance and importance of confidence in life. He also organized some activities on stage. The students failed to complete the task as they misjudged his instructions. So he demonstrated the power of listening, power of communicating effectively and utilizing our senses when required. He gave real time example of his daughter on how confidence can take a person to heights. The program ended at 1pm by delivering the vote of thanks by Mr.Winston, Assistant professor.
Overall, the four days of orientation was informative, intrapersonal and interpersonal skills driven and full-filled. The program concluded with the Nation Anthem.
