Programme Prospects
MSc Microbiology is a course where a lot of research is carried out. Government, multinational and private research organizations are offering good lucrative job opportunities in this field of study. Central government sector offers vacancies for post graduates in the research institutes run by central government. These graduates can apply for Scientist, Research Assistant, Technical Assistant, Field Assistant or Project Assistant posts in these institutes. Several institutes pan India offers Microbiologist job for these graduates. Staff Selection Commission conducts Combined Graduate Level Exam for recruiting graduates to various departments in the government. There are many laboratories working under the supervision of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). MSc Microbiology graduates can apply for various posts available for them in these laboratories. There are also vacancies available for these graduates in quality control and quality assurance departments of various industries require Microbiologists for their day to day affair.
Candidates who want to work in the teaching field after MSc Microbiology can apply to various colleges or universities.
After the successful completion of first academic year a student is eligible to transfer to the next academic year pertaining to the specificity of the programme. The student will experience more flexibility in terms of achieving the credits from the second semester as the academic session will retain a core paper of study from the given basket of modules that covers fundamental subjects in Microbiology. During third semester the student will also get accustomed with minor project based on the student interest & in the fourth semester with major project in industry collaborative programmes.
In the final semester the student will get an insight on the modules based on the experience of the faculty members in conducting research. The student will get the benefit from the wide range of expertise at Krupanidhi in microbiology and life sciences.
The teaching process followed in this programme takes place through different modes, viz, lecture sessions, seminars, tutorials, practical laboratory sessions, projects, visit to renowned research laboratories. The rest of the time in class hour will be utilised on self-study, which will include research and writing assignments. The students will be assessed through a system which will be based on coursework, examinations and practical observation.
